Safeguarding and Child Protection for Young Citizens Staff

An internal course for staff, volunteers and interns at Young Citizens

This course is for staff, interns and volunteers who join us at Young Citizens.

By the end of the course you should have gained:

  • An understanding the importance of safeguarding children and your role and responsibilities within this;
  • The knowledge to recognise abuse and neglect (and other safeguarding concerns);
  • Knowledge of what to do if you have concerns or receive a disclosure;
  • Knowledge of what you can do to ensure that you 'work safely'.

Yvonne Richards

Yvonne has worked in the education sector for over 30 years. She’s a qualified primary school teacher with experience teaching at all levels of education from EYFS to undergraduate – and has worked in formal and non-formal education. She spent 5 years leading teacher development projects in sub-Saharan Africa and completed her MA in International Education at the University of Sussex. Directly prior to joining Young Citizens, she led the national delivery of a non-formal awards programme for a national youth charity and then managed the training department at a national anti-bullying and safeguarding charity.
