In order to get the best out of the online experience we recommend you use either Chrome or Firefox browsers - check you've got the most up to date version installed. If you have any problems with pictures or videos not appearing automatically, check your browser extensions aren't blocking anything from being downloaded. Basically, if you're not seeing lots of pictures and some videos thrown in for good measure, switch browsers!
The materials on this course are designed to lead you step by step through the Make a Difference Challenge programme from start to finish, giving you a mixture of theory and practical activities to complete with children in order to create a social action project in the primary school. This is done through a mixture of text to read and digest, answering questions about video clips, completing quizzes and watching presentations. There are also handouts containing key points and copies of presentations which you can download now and use later.
You will find that you MUST complete a lecture before going on to the next one - so if you're trying to progress through the lectures and the 'complete and continue' button isn't working at the top of the page, it's probably because there's a part in the current lecture (usually a video) that you haven't completed. If you can't see a video on there, but there's one referenced, then try refreshing your page.
It is entirely possible to complete each section of the course more than once, so do revisit as you need to. You may also wish to pause and dip into your Make a Difference Challenge Annual Licence package as you go along to pick up relevant handouts and worksheets - and do keep a notepad and pen handy to write down your thoughts and ideas as you progress.
This course is certified by the CPD Standards Office and therefore, if you complete the whole course and score 100% in each of the quizzes testing your learning, you will be able to download a CPD certificate validated at 4 hours of CPD.
It should take you around 4 hours to complete all sections of this course. However, you can do this over a few days, or weeks - you don't need to do it all in one sitting. The course will recognise where you got up to when you sign in again.
Don't panic - we know and understand that online learning can feel a bit lonely at times, but we're here to help and guide you. There are a few ways that you can get in touch, depending on your personal preferences:
By email to [email protected]
Via the 'Comments' section at the bottom of each lecture (you can also share ideas with other learners there too).
Via our closed Facebook group (more details in your Annual Licence package)
So there's no excuses not to keep in touch - the Young Citizens team are here to cheer you on all the way!
Good luck - we hope you enjoy this course and feel inspired to go out and do great things with your children in school.
